Social groups
Do you need help to get out and about, meet new people and try new things?
No matter whether you’re sporty, creative, adventurous or social, we’re here to help you get out of your house and into your community.
What is social and community participation?
Assistance with Social and Community Participation in a category within the Core Supports area of your NDIS plan.
Support services in this category help you become more confident around other people, so you can connect with your friends, family, and community.
You may use your funding in this category to improve your communication skills, become more independent, go out with your mates, or get involved in mainstream sports or clubs. What is great about social and community participation? It is both flexible and unique to you. It’s all about what you want to do and the life you want to live.
Social groups
Do you want to take part in activities that challenge and inspire you? We host a range of social groups throughout the week to support you to make new friends and experience exciting opportunities.

NDIS support categories
Social groups are generally funded under one of the following categories in your NDIS plan.
- Core – Assistance with Social and Community Participation
- Capacity Building – Increased Social and Community Participation
Sometimes you’ll be asked to make a small payment towards an activity or meal if it’s not covered by NDIS funding. We try to keep costs as affordable as possible. We always advise you if there’s a cost for an activity, so you can choose whether to participate.
