We understand that getting involved can feel overwhelming. That is why our team works with you to identify:

  • What activities interest you
  • What goals you want to achieve
  • If you need extra support to build confidence and skills
  • What social and community opportunities are available near you

With one-on-one and group support options, we help make NDIS social and community participation easier and more enjoyable.

What Does Community Participation Look Like at Lifely?

Our Community Support Workers can accompany you to:

  • A music festival, concert, or movie
  • A book club or local library visit
  • Sports practice, games, or fitness activities
  • Art classes, craft workshops, or creative sessions
  • Outdoor adventures, bushwalking, or community events
  • Volunteering or work experience

NDIS social and community participation support helps you access and enjoy the activities that matter to you. This assistance must be deemed reasonable and necessary under the goals outlined in your plan.

  • Good health and well-being
  • A safe place to live
  • Activities that interest you

What is NDIS Social and Community Participation

NDIS social and community participation is funded under two key areas of your NDIS plan.

Core Supports: Assistance with Social and Community Participation

Under Support Category Four, this funding can cover a support worker to help you participate in community, social, or recreational activities. These activities can take place in a centre or out in the community and may include:

  • Attending personal development courses
  • Joining a social group
  • Taking an outing or holiday
  • Visiting the library, seeing a movie, or attending a concert
  • Participating in arts, sports, or recreational activities
  • Joining a sporting club or community event

Funding is available at standard or higher-intensity rates, depending on the level of support required.

More information about NDIS social and community participation is available on the NDIS website.

Group Activities

If you prefer to socialise and participate in group settings, Lifely offers group-based support for activities in community centres, sporting clubs, and recreational spaces.

The cost of group support depends on:

  • The staff-to-participant ratio
  • The level of support required
  • Whether additional assistance is needed for high-support needs

We create inclusive and welcoming environments where you can feel comfortable, meet new people, and enjoy shared experiences.

Capacity Building Supports: Increased Social and Community Participation

Under Support Category Nine, this funding helps build skills and independence through structured activities. It can be used for:

  • Tuition fees for music, art, or recreational classes
  • Camps, holiday programs, and group activities
  • Mentoring and peer support programs
  • Learning new skills that help with employment, volunteering, or daily life

Lifely helps you understand and make the most of your NDIS social and community participation funding so you can participate in activities that suit your lifestyle.

Your Social and Community Participation Goals Can Evolve

As life changes, so do your interests and goals. Social participation may shift due to:

  • Moving house or transitioning from school to work
  • Starting a job or retiring
  • Health changes that affect mobility or social confidence
  • New hobbies and interests

We understand that your support needs may change over time. Lifely is here to help you adjust and stay connected so you can continue enjoying the activities that matter most to you.
