Support coordination Ballarat: Coordinator talks with a participant using a wheelchair.

This week, we reaffirmed our commitment to the Mallee, announcing a new independent NDIS advocacy service for the Mallee region.

We’ve been part of the Mildura community for 30 years, providing a range of supports for people living with a disability and their families.

We’ll soon add free NDIS Advocacy to our Mallee offerings after receiving funding from Carer Support Services to replicate our Bendigo program.

Advocacy is vital for protecting the human rights of people living with a disability, who are often vulnerable community members. Advocates work closely with people and families to help them improve their NDIS experience, speak out, or fix access and discrimination issues.

The advocates we engage are objective and independent of our organisation. They act solely in the interests of their participants, regardless of whether they use Lifely services.

NDIS Advocacy will join a long list of Lifely services open to Mallee residents, including one-on-support, community-based social groups, supported independent living, support coordination, plan management and carer support groups.

The announcement was made at the official opening of our new Lime Avenue office on June 24.

While our Mallee team has been based in Lime Avenue for a few months, we haven’t had a chance to welcome the community due to COVID-19 restrictions.

Our new location in the Mildura CBD is larger and easily accessible – the perfect location to enable us to ramp up our Mallee services. We encourage new and existing participants and families to pop in and ask us about how we can support them.
