All Abilities Sport and Exercise Programs in Bendigo and Mildura

Lifely’s All Abilities Sport and Exercise programs in Bendigo and Mildura are open to everyone—no NDIS plan or special funding required.

Thanks to support from the Victorian government, these programs are accessible to all, regardless of whether you’re connected to the NDIS, TAC, or DVA. You can simply sign up and start playing.

To keep the programs running and ensure they remain safe and fun for everyone, there is a small fee to cover essential costs like insurance and game fees. It’s an easy, affordable way to stay active, build skills, and enjoy the thrill of sport in an inclusive and welcoming environment.

Why Get Active?

Regular exercise has significant physical and mental health benefits, including:

  •  Building strong bones, muscles, and joints
  •  Improving heart health
  •  Reducing the risk of chronic diseases like type 2 diabetes
  •  Preventing unhealthy weight gain
  •  Lowering the risk of injury
  •  Boosting mood and overall wellbeing
  •  Providing opportunities for social connection
  •  Being fun and rewarding

Despite these benefits, only 24 per cent of people with disabilities participate in sport and exercise, compared to 79 per cent of all Victorians. Many face challenges such as accessibility barriers, lack of inclusive fitness options, and social stigma.

That’s why our all-abilities sport and exercise programs in Bendigo and Mildura are designed to be inclusive, supportive, and fun. We provide access to barrier-free venues, experienced coaches, and modifications to help everyone enjoy an active lifestyle.

Using NDIS to Access Sport and Exercise

If you need extra support to stay active, you may be able to use your NDIS funding to have a community support worker help you access sport and exercise programs in Bendigo and Mildura.

Whether you want to go swimming, join a gym, or try yoga or Pilates, your NDIS plan could cover the cost of a support worker to assist you in getting there, participating safely, and building confidence in your chosen activity.

Our Community support workers can help with:

  • Getting to and from your chosen sport or exercise program
  • Accessing inclusive facilities such as gyms, pools, and fitness studios
  • Providing assistance with equipment and adapting exercises to your needs
  • Offering encouragement and support to help you stay motivated
  • Helping you understand and follow instructions from coaches or instructors

Your NDIS funding may also cover related costs, including sessions with an exercise physiologist or physiotherapist, as well as specialised exercise and sports equipment for those who need adapted gear to participate safely and comfortably.

If you’re unsure what’s covered in your plan, speak with your support coordinator or plan manager to explore your options for staying active and engaging in sport and exercise in Bendigo and Mildura.

How to Include Sport and Exercise in Your NDIS Plan

Before your plan review, consider:

  •  What type of sport or exercise you’d like to do
  •  Why being active is important for your health and wellbeing
  •  What support you need to participate (e.g., transport, equipment, training, a personal trainer, or a community support worker)
