Mark Butler Announced as New NDIS Minister

The Australian Government has announced key changes to its Cabinet following the recent federal election.

The Hon Mark Butler MP will now oversee the Health and Ageing, Disability and NDIS portfolio while continuing as Minister for Health and Aged Care. Since entering Parliament in 2007, Minister Butler has held a range of senior roles, including in mental health, housing, and social inclusion.

Senator the Hon Jenny McAllister has been appointed Minister for the NDIS in the outer ministry, and the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP will take on the Social Services portfolio. The Hon Amanda Rishworth MP moves to Employment and Workplace Relations.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the appointments reflect the government’s commitment to ensuring the NDIS delivers on its original promise.

“We want to make sure the NDIS fulfils what its intention was: that everyone has the best opportunity to contribute to Australian society and that people with a disability don’t get left behind,” the Prime Minister said.

Lifely looks forward to working with Minister Butler, Minister McAllister and their teams, as well as our local members of parliament and senators.
