Donate to Lifely This Tax Time
Looking to make a real impact and get more out of your tax return? When you make a tax deductible donation to Lifely, you’re supporting people with disabilities in regional Australia — and potentially lowering your taxable income at the same time.
Lifely is a registered charity and Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR), so donations over $2 are tax deductible. Whether you’re giving a little or a lot, your generosity helps us build a stronger, more inclusive community — and you may see the benefit when tax time rolls around.

What Your Tax Deductible Donation Supports
Your tax deductible donation directly funds practical support and meaningful programs that create real impact. Here’s how your gift could be used:
- Wheelchair accessible vehicles: Help us purchase accessible vehicles in Ballarat, Bendigo and Mildura so wheelchair users can safely get to programs, appointments and events.
- A 10-seater bus: More transport means we can expand group programs and inclusive outings for people with disabilities and their families.
- A sensory zone transport van or truck: We need a dedicated vehicle to bring our calming, inclusive sensory zone to more schools and rural events — without expensive hire costs.
- Subsidies to run sensory zone events: Your donation helps cover event staff, transport, art supplies and equipment maintenance so we can make the sensory zone affordable for schools, community groups and grassroots festivals.
- Locally inspired sensory dome art: We’re collaborating with people with disabilities, artists, and cultural organisations to project beautiful, regional stories into our sensory dome.
- Seed Funding for Innovative Projects: We’re raising funds to launch bold, new projects that support regional people with disabilities and their families — especially initiatives that fall outside the scope of NDIS funding or other government programs. This includes pilot programs, community-driven services, local research, and creative solutions designed to fill gaps in regional disability support. Your donation helps us take ideas from concept to reality — delivering outcomes that traditional funding streams can’t.
Donate to the Steph Eames Giving Fund
The Steph Eames Giving Fund was created in memory of our much-loved team member, Steph Eames, who passed away in March 2022. Steph was known for her warmth, generosity and passion for helping others.
This fund provides practical support to Lifely families through one-off or essential purchases that make a real difference — like:
- Emergency items or services
- School or work supplies
- Sporting or camp fees
- Gifts for milestones or people without family
- Minor home modifications or assistive technology
Lifely staff contribute through payroll giving, and members of the public can also make a tax deductible donation in Steph’s memory.
All donations over $2 are tax deductible, and Lifely is an Item 1 Deductible Gift Recipient.

Frequently Asked Questions About Tax Deductible Donations
What is a tax deductible donation?
A tax deductible donation is a gift of money or property made to a registered Deductible Gift Recipient, like Lifely. Donations over $2 can be claimed on your tax return, which may reduce your taxable income.
What’s a registered charity and what does Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) mean?
In Australia, a registered charity is an organisation that’s officially recognised by the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC) as working for the public good — whether that’s supporting people with disabilities, helping the environment, advancing education, or any number of other causes.
A Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) is a charity or organisation that’s been approved by the Australian Tax Office to receive tax deductible donations. That means when you donate $2 or more, you can claim it on your tax return.
Lifely is an Item 1 DGR, which means we’re endorsed to receive donations for our general charitable work — not just for a specific project. That’s the most common (and flexible) type of DGR status, and it means your donation can go where it’s needed most.
You can check a charity’s DGR status at any time using the ABN Lookup Tool.
What kinds of donations are tax deductible?
- One-off donations
- Monthly giving
- Workplace giving programs
- Business and corporate sponsorships
- Donations to registered DGRs like Lifely
How much can I claim on tax?
There is no set limit, but donations can’t create a tax loss. If your donation brings your income to zero, any extra can be carried forward to future years.
Do I need a receipt?
Yes — for donations over $10, keep your receipt. You can claim up to $10 without one, but documentation is recommended for larger gifts.
Are anonymous or cash donations deductible?
Yes, as long as they are made to a DGR and you retain transaction records or receive a receipt.
Can I claim donated goods?
No. Only money, property, or shares qualify for tax deductions — second-hand goods are not deductible.
