We have an exciting opportunity for a part-time Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) 2IC to join our innovative high-intensity OSHC program for children with disabilities attending Sunbury and Macedon Ranges Specialist School. 

This is a perfect opportunity for an Early Childhood Education Leader, Assistant Director or Room Leader, who is looking to take the next step for their career.  

An extensive induction process will be provided for the successful candidate, working closely with the Children Services Manager and onsite Coordinator to learn about the programs. Applicants with any relevant qualifications or experience are encouraged to apply!  

  

Your role at a glance 

Your role as the OSHC 2IC is pivotal to the program’s success. You will assist in managing the OSHC program and supporting the Site Coordinator, adhering to its policies and directives. You will assist to supervise, engage, and provide care for school-age children with disabilities, ensuring their safety and wellbeing. Supporting children and staff in a variety of activities from reading and crafts, to sports and games, every day is different! 

  • After-school care (Monday-Friday): Directly supervising staff and children from 2 pm to 6 pm. Monday-Friday availability is required for this role. 
  • School Holiday Care (Monday-Friday): You will directly supervise staff and children during the holiday program from 9 am to 5 pm or until the last child is collected.

We are proud to be part of a government-funded program providing free OSHC services to children and young people with disabilities attending specialist schools in Bendigo, Melton, and Sunbury. 

Remuneration commencing at SCHADS Level 3.1 ($38.65 base rate) plus salary packaging is available for permanent part-time staff to reduce the tax you pay and increase your take-home pay (as per PBI status). 

  

The ideal candidate must have: 

  • Experience in child services, education, or disabilities with leadership aspirations. 
  • Passion for child development and education 
  • Strong ethics, child safety awareness, and work health and safety knowledge 
  • Adaptability, flexibility, and resilience in the face of change 
  • Availability each day Monday-Friday between 2 pm-6 pm 

Perfect for workers, students and carers with skills in teaching, disability, community services, allied health and early childhood. Applicants with lived experience are also encouraged to apply. 

 

Safeguarding of Children and Young People 

As a staff member of Lifely’s High-Intensity Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) program, you are expected to exemplify leadership and a strong dedication to ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all children and young people in your care. Your key responsibilities include: 

  • Disclosing any information, you learn during your work that a reasonable person would consider could affect your suitability to work with children and young people. 
  • Acting as a protective figure during all interactions and taking proactive steps to prevent any form of abuse or neglect. 
  • Adhering strictly to all policies, procedures, and the code of conduct related to child safeguarding. 
  • Keeping your personal details up-to-date with the appropriate department responsible for working with children checks or their equivalent, in accordance with regulations. 
  • Completing the Working With Children Check (WWCC) before starting your role and maintaining its validity throughout your employment. 
  • Undergoing a National or International Police Check prior to employment, and as required by Lifely. 
  • Reporting any concerns, suspicions, allegations, or disclosures of child abuse or neglect promptly, following standard procedures. 
  • Participating in all mandatory safeguarding training sessions. 
  • Using consistent methods to handle feedback, concerns, or complaints from children, families, and colleagues. 
  • Ensuring that new program ideas involve consultation with children and young people, using approved practices and resources. 
  • Staying informed about policies and procedures related to the protection of children and young people. 
  • Attending any additional training related to safeguarding, as required by your role. 
  • Promoting a culture of cultural safety and inclusion for children and young people from diverse backgrounds, including CALD communities, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, LGBTQIA+ communities, and those with disabilities.
