Complex Care
Complex Disability Care in Ballarat, Bendigo, Maryborough and Mildura
At Lifely, we provide complex disability care that helps you feel safe, comfortable and in control of your daily life. We have supported people with disability for over 40 years.
Our support workers, coordinators and team leaders get to know you and work together to provide care that suits your needs, routines and goals.
What Is Complex Disability Care?
Complex disability care supports people whose needs require extra skills, training, or planning. You might need help with your physical health, communication, behaviour or several needs at once.
Some people need help with particular tasks. Others need support throughout the day or overnight.
At Lifely, your support may include:
- A Personal Care Plan: Clear instructions about the support you need, how you want it provided and what to do in an emergency.
- Everyday Support: Help with showering, dressing, preparing meals and moving safely.
- Working with Your Health Team: Keeping in touch with your doctors, nurses and therapists so everyone understands your care needs.
- Specialised Care: Support with tasks such as tube feeding, catheter care or complex bowel care. We discuss your needs and arrange the right training and care plans before starting.
- Behaviour Support: Follow your behaviour support plan and work with your practitioner to understand what helps you feel safe, communicate, and manage distress.
- Getting Out and About: Help to enjoy hobbies, attend events, learn new skills and spend time with others.
Trained support workers can carry out some care tasks. Others need a nurse or another health professional. You can learn more about high-intensity disability supports on the NDIS Commission website.
Who Benefits from Complex Disability Care?
Complex disability care may help if you need specialised support to manage everyday life. This can include people with:
- Brain injuries or neurological conditions, such as an acquired brain injury or epilepsy.
- Physical disabilities, such as cerebral palsy or muscular dystrophy.
- Autism or intellectual disability, where more specialised support is needed.
- Genetic conditions, such as Down syndrome, Prader–Willi syndrome or Fragile X syndrome.
- Conditions that change over time, such as multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease or Parkinson’s disease.
- Psychosocial disability, where a mental health condition has a significant effect on daily life.
- Several conditions or support needs, including vision or hearing loss alongside other disabilities.
Your diagnosis alone does not decide the care you need. What matters is how your disability affects your life and what support works for you.

The NDIS may fund complex care and high-intensity supports through different parts of your plan:
- Core Supports – Help with daily activities, personal care and specialised tasks such as tube feeding or complex bowel care.
Funding depends on your disability-related needs and NDIS plan.
At Lifely, we work with you to arrange a trained support team and a dedicated participant coordinator who understands your needs and helps organise your care.
