Bendigo From Home to Independence: Supporting choices, work and living your way

Free event in Bendigo for parents and carers of people with disability or neurodivergence.

Time: 5:00–7:00 pm
Register: At least 10 business days before the event to secure a supervised place for your family member.

About this event

Independence looks different for everyone. It might mean making more everyday decisions, finding meaningful work, developing practical skills or exploring different living arrangements. Having the right support can help people pursue their goals at their own pace.

Join Lifely in Bendigo for a practical, welcoming session about supporting your family member’s choices and independence. Explore employment and living options, ask questions and connect with other parents and carers planning for the future.

What we’ll explore

• Supported decision-making: helping your family member understand options, express preferences and make their own choices
• Employment pathways, workplace supports and finding meaningful work
• Independent living options, including support at home or in a new living arrangement
• Building everyday skills, including managing money, household tasks and getting around
• Planning next steps around your family member’s goals, preferences and support needs
• Looking after your wellbeing as your caring role changes

• Light refreshments

Support during the event

Lifely staff can spend time with your family member while you attend. This is short-term, on-site general supervision and engagement.

We can’t provide:

• One-on-one support
• Personal care, including toileting
• Medication support
• Complex behaviour or medical support

You remain responsible for your family member and will be asked to step in if they need additional support.

Please register your family member at least 10 business days before the event. After this cut-off, we may not have enough staff available to provide supervision.
